Generation code

We’re super excited to offer students and young people aged 10 – 16 the opportunity of a two-hour coding programme.

Working with UK Youth and Microsoft, we’ve devised a programme which take two hours to deliver. This may be split over two – three sessions.

Each young person will leave the programme with:

  • A basic knowledge of coding

  • Having created their own game

  • Generate an app idea that can solve a social issue

For the programme, your group, school, club, friends or organisation will be provided with:

  • 1 micro-computer per 5 participants to keep

  • A delivery pack that enables you to teach coding without any previous knowledge

  • All materials needed

  • In addition, payment by results of £2.50 per young person that has completed the short workshop – which is sent however you’d like

So, What’s Generation Code?

By 2025, there will be a huge decline of coders – these are the people who are very techy and have an extensive knowledge on how to build things like websites, or games. Generation Code is a way of solving that issue by encouraging young people to take part and create their own coded worlds. The programme is adaptable and flexible for young people of all ages and abilities.

We’ll provide you with the guide to run the programme, using step by step imagery, so it’s as simple as possible for us adults – it’s really not as complicated and scary as it seems.

What you need to be eligible:

  • A minimum of 30 young people aged 10 – 16

  • Two hours of time to work with the young people (Before 8th March)

  • One computer or tablet per 5 – 7 young persons

How Do You Get Payments?

  • Autism & ADHD provide you with a one page survey that each young person needs to fill out. This must be completed, scanned and sent to us by the 8th March.

  • The youngsters (in groups) make a two-minute film about an app they’d like to create. This must be sent to us by the 10th March at 10:00am. (As well as unlocking your funding, this also enters your chosen group into a national competition for a chance to win £600 and two tablets, as well as national and regional runner-up prizes!)
